House & Garden Plants Dangerous to Our Pets
There are many plants both indoors and outdoors that may prove harmful to
both dogs and cats. Just as if we were to eat some of them and became very ill
so too can our animals. Some plants have only to touch our skin to cause a skin
rash and this is true for our animals as well. While it is impossible nor would
we want to avoid plants, it is important to realize and attempt to protect our
animals from plants which can cause severe health risks.
There are a variety of side effects which may result from contact with
poisonous plants such as, a rash, circulatory difficulties, delirium, vomiting,
diarrhea, irregular pulse, etc.
If you suspect that your pet has been poisoned, contact your veterinarian
immediately. It is a good idea to know of their policy concerning emergencies.
If they are unavailable contact a local emergency service close to your location
or alternatively you can contact the National Animal Poison Control Center
(NAPCC) at 1-(800) 548-2423.
