Information on the adoption process

Bishop Animal Shelter is home to many homeless dogs and cats.  The Shelter receives animals from owners who can no longer keep them.  Animals who are abandoned and some strays after all attempts to locate their owners fail.

All animals are checked by a veterinarian technician, spayed or neutered and given all necessary shots before being placed for adoption. Most animals are mixed breeds, but occasionally pure breeds are available. Adult dogs and cats, as well as puppies and kittens are waiting for a new home. They will have a home at the Shelter, health permitting, until permanent loving homes are found.

The adoption fee is a donation of $60.00 per animal, for either a male or female dog or cat. Payment can be made in cash or by check with proper identification.

The adoption donation includes:

All necessary shots are included and, for animals over 4 months of age,
a rabies vaccination is given.

Worming, flea bath, ear mite check and nail trim.

Spaying or neutering.

Tattooing for permanent identification if your animal is lost.

Collar, leash and tag.

Heart Worm Testing.

Certificate for one free medical checkup at Shelter veterinarian
within the first week after adoption.
